It’s official: Steve Fairbairn wins Elkford by-election
The District of Elkford today (April 4) officially declared Steve Fairbairn as the winner of the March 31 by-election.
In accordance with the Local Government Act [Section 136(2a) and (2b)], Leanne Jensen appointed Chief Election Officer for the 2012 District of Elkford By-Election, declared Steve Fairbairn to the office of councillor for the District of Elkford.
Fairbairn was the victor in the seven-person race for the council seat vacated by Walter Conibear earlier this year.
Despite no new candidates stepping forward to run in Elkford during the November 2011 municipal election, seven people filed papers to run. Including Fairbairn, Terry Anonson, Kevin Atherton, Tom Clements, Colin Cross, Andrew Fredrick Klapp and Troy Tobin were the choices voters had last weekend.
