Kimberley Council Highlights
8th annual Literacy Charity Golf Tournament
City of Kimberley council March 26 approved a request from the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy – Friends of the Kimberley Public Library to be a Corporate Sponsor for $200 for the 8th annual Tournament to be held at Bootleg Gap Golf on Sunday, September 16.
Emergency Management Workshop
All members of city council were authorized to attend the Emergency Management Workshop being held in Cranbrook on May 17.
RDEK Bylaw Referrals
Bylaws No. 2358 & 2359 referred to the City by the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) were considered. Council approved returning the Response to the RDEK indicating that the City of Kimberley’s interest was unaffected by the proposed Bylaws, with a note respecting the Kimberley Rural Official Community Plan and the RDEK Regional Growth Strategy.
Mark Creek and Matthew Creek water sampling
City signatories were authorized to sign the agreement between Aqua-Tex Scientific Consulting Ltd. for the 2012 – 2013 Water Sampling for Mark Creek and Matthew Creek.
Aerial photos
Staff was authorized to proceed with purchasing aerial photos (Othoshop Geomatics) at a cost of approximately $12,000.
Water Smart – CBT
City signatories were authorized to enter into a Water Smart Contribution Agreement with Columbia Basin Trust for the year February 1, 2012 – January 31, 2013.
