SOCIETY BUDGETS
City of Kimberley council July 9 approved the 2012 Budgets by Bootleg Gap Golf Society, Kimberley Health Centre Society, and Kimberley Public Library, and the 2012 Budget by the Kimberley Community Development Society with a reduced amount.
JULYFEST 2012
The application for Special Occasion Licence by the Kimberley & District Chamber of Commerce for JulyFest, July 20-22, was approved.
SOLAR HOT WATER READY REGULATION
Council authorized staff to submit an application for the City of Kimberley to sign on to the Provincial Solar Hot Water Ready Regulation.
REMOVAL OF RENTAL COVENANT
City signatories were authorized to execute a discharge of Rental Covenant from title for Unit 34, 2000 Northstar Drive.
BC TRANSIT-KIMBERLEY SURVEY
Council approved Terms of Reference and authorized staff to assist with promoting the Kimberley Transit Survey within the community.
UNITED WAY FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL
Council approved in principle, the United Way Friendship Festival to be held in Kimberley’s Platzl in the summer of 2013.
DEVELOPMENT PERMITS – 12-004 & 12-006
Council approved Development Permit 12-004 relating to 910 Dogwood Drive – McGinty Landing for the replacement of the rear decks and stairs, subject to a geotechnical report being provided; and Development Permit 12-006 for exterior changes at 850 North /Star Drive, Kirkwood Inn.
CENTRE 64
City signatories were authorized to sign the Operating Agreement with the Kimberley Arts Council for Centre 64 for the five-year term July 1 to June 30, 2017.
KIMBERLEY MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
City signatories were authorized to sign the Operating Agreement with the Kimberley Minor Hockey Association for the concessions stands at the Civic Centre and Marysville Arena for the five year term, July 1 to June 30, 2017.
BC PROVINCIAL SOCCER COMPETITION
Council approved the City of Kimberley supporting the application for Kootenay East Soccer Association (KEYSA) to host the BC Provincial Soccer Championships in 2013 or 2014.
309th AVENUE / DALGREN STREET
Currier Contracting Ltd. was retained for the amount of $533,820.25 for the 309th Avenue and Dalgren Street Water Main Upgrades.
DEMOLITION – 480 ST. MARY’S AVENUE
Skyline Contracting was retained for the amount of $25,425.00 for the demolition of the building at 480 St. Mary’s Avenue.
MARK AND MATTHEW CREEK – WATER QUALITY
The report titled ‘Mark and Matthew – Water Quality Report – 2011’ prepared by Cori L. Barraclough, Aqua-Tex Scientific, was received.
PESTICIDE BYLAW
Council approved a survey being conducted regarding the Pesticide Bylaw to be included in the next utility bill mail-out.
BYLAWS
“Bylaw No. 2451, Temporary Borrowing Bylaw, 2012”, was given first three readings. “Bylaw No. 2450, City of Kimberley Zoning Bylaw No.
1850, 1994, Amendment No. 114, 2012” was given second and third readings, and adopted.
