Kimberley councillor honoured with Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal

The City Hall gallery was filled with family and friends of Coun. Jack Ratcliffe.

It was standing room only in the City of Kimberley council chambers last night (Nov. 26) when Columbia River – Revelstoke MLA Norm Macdonald presented a Diamond Jubilee Medal to Councillor Jack Ratcliffe in recognition of his 27 years of service to the city and community-at-large.

Ratcliffe humbly accepted the honour and told the crowd gathered in council chambers he shared it with his wife, Rose. The couple is soon celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary – fitting because the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal is a celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada.

This commemorative medal is being presented to 60,000 deserving Canadians to celebrate significant contributions and achievements and to recognize those who have dedicated themselves to service to their fellow citizens, their community and their country.
