Kimberley RCMP Report

Helmet straps

I spotted a new trend the other day, actually it’s probably not new. Wearing your bike helmet without doing it up. Now what good is that? The second you start to fall, the helmet goes and you are left with nothing! I’m trying to grasp the logic of this. Is it to show everybody you are wearing a helmet or to avoid the $29 ticket? Let go the ticket route, you are hoping to fool the police to avoid paying $29, yet risk injury to your head. Somehow that doesn’t make sense. Dollars and sense.

New game
I have a new game for you. Have you noticed the number of people who are continually checking their laps while stopped for a traffic light? Next time you are at a stop light take a look around. Works better where there are more lights than Kimberley. It’s not hard to pick out those people who check their lap, then check to see if the light has turned green. Stop texting, we see you.

Kimberley RCMP / Speed Watch Charity Golf Tournament
On Sept 15, the Kimberley RCMP and Speed Watch will hold their 21st annual charity golf tournament. It will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at the Kimberley golf course. It will be limited to the first 100 paid golfers. The cost is $50 for members and $85 for non members with registration either at the RCMP Detachment or Kimberley Golf course. Dinner only is available for $25. There is a silent auction and live music will be provided by The George Street re-visited Band. Proceeds to go to support local minor sports and the Kimberley Ambulance Memorial Education Fund. Sign up today!
