The Lieutenant Governor of B.C. toured the East Kootenay this week, beginning with stops in the Columbia Valley, then over to the Elk Valley before concluding her visit with a series of appointments in Kimberley and Cranbrook on August 5 and 6.

She began her journey in Edgewater, Radium Hot Springs, Invermere, Fairmont Hot Springs and Canal Flats, before moving on to Elkford, Sparwood and Fernie.

One of her stops was in Fairmont Hot Springs to view the new Lions Community Den and take part in a Meet and Greet with the community.

During her visit, she was given a keepsake ornament by Regional District of East Kootenay Electoral Area F Director Wendy Booth and a bouquet of flowers by the Fairmont Lions.

The bouquet was presented by Ashley McDiarmid who is the great, great, great, great niece of The Honourable Edgar Dewdney, who was the fifth Lieutenant Governor of BC.

The Lieutenant Governor also had lunch earlier that day at Pynelogs Cultural Centre, built by the 13th Lieutenant Governor of B.C., the Honourable Robert Randolph Bruce (1926-1931), one of the key builders of the Columbia Valley community.
