Locally-based officers help end Trans-Canada pursuit
RCMP officers out of the Cranbrook-based Southeast District Traffic Services helped end an almost 400 km vehicle pursuit last night.
Revelstoke RCMP and nearby area RCMP officers were able to safely apprehend a motorist who had fled a traffic stop in Banff earlier on Wednesday.
At 9:15 pm, Revelstoke RCMP, Sicamous and Southeast District Traffic Services officers were able to safely apprehend the driver.
The 57-year-old male from Saskatchewan was subsequently taken into custody by the Salmon Arm RCMP and a Police Dog Service unit after the man ditched his vehicle on a logging road near Canoe, just east of Salmon Arm.
The male driver remains in custody. Investigators are continuing the investigation into the reasons as to why the man caused a multi jurisdictional pursuit.
