Mainroad warns of possible freezing rain
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting has just issued a public alert of possible freezing rain, beginning on the west side of Kootenay Pass.
“There is a concern that any flurries could turn to freezing rain showers this afternoon then turn back to flurries this evening. Amounts don’t look high but it doesn’t take much for freezing rain to be a problem,” Mainroad stated.
Main areas this would be a concern are Moyie, then Kimberley and Cranbrook, followed by the rest of the Columbia Trench. This probably won’t be a concern from Morrissey eastward, the highways contractor noted.
Mainroad crews will be monitoring the weather forecast closely and patrolling the service area. Please slow down, drive to the conditions, and increase the distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you, Mainroad urges.
