Man killed after being struck by semi near Sparwood
Elk Valley RCMP are reporting that a man was killed this morning (Oct. 3) on Highway 43 after being struck by a semi trailer. A woman was also injured in the accident that closed the highway for much of the early morning.
The accident happened four kilometres south of the Highway 3 junction with Highway 43, at about 1:30 a.m.
Police reported that the semi-trailer truck was southbound when it ran into the couple who were allegedly standing on the roadway.
The man died en route to hospital, and the woman was flown to a Calgary hospital in critical condition.
Police have not yet released names, ages or a location where the couple were from at this time.
