Mayor dunks a Mountie

DunkAMountie4Members of the Cranbrook RCMP are showing their support for Special Olympics BC this afternoon (June 27) by taking part in the Draft an Athlete Dunk Tank and BBQ event behind Cranbrook City Hall.

Several local RCMP members volunteered to take the plunge for the great cause; to raise awareness and funding for Special Olympics BC and our local Special Olympics athletes.

For only $5, participants had three chances to dunk a Mountie – and the ball count was exceedingly generous!

Cranbrook Mayor Wayne Stetski even took a turn trying to soak an officer and succeeded, several times.

Barbecue hamburgers and hotdogs were also available for purchase.

DunkAMountie2Draft an Athlete supports local Special Olympics athletes to attend the upcoming 2013 Special Olympics Summer Games being held in Langley, from July 11 – 14.

Throughout the Games athletes will experience the power of sport to inspire greatness and transform lives.

The Games will spark a fire in the hearts of athletes that will burn bright long after the Games have come to a close. Getting to the Games shouldn’t be the hardest part. Therefore support our local athletes by dunking a Mountie to help send them to the Games.

There is still time to make it down as the event ends at 2 p.m.
