Moyie cabin set on fire following B&E
In the early morning hours of June 22, several people broke into a cabin at 7617 Hwy 3/95 near Moyie and set fire to it before departing.
A wide array of items were stolen from the cabin, reports the son of the cabin’s owner.
“The cabin is immediately adjacent to Cotton Tie Creek and would be very difficult to find if you did not know it was there. It appears they made their exit up the driveway and loaded multiple loads of tools into a vehicle at the top of the driveway near the Moyie bluffs,” reported Brad Scriver, a Cranbrook resident, in a plea on Facebook seeking information.
“In addition they attempted to steal a side-by-side quad by cutting the ignition out and prying the hood up; after that failed they fled on foot. Before departing they set fire to the cabin and caused in excess of $50,000 damage, in addition to placing the property of others at risk of loss as their is no fire services in Moyie,” Scriver said.
Any info that leads to arrests will result in a $1,000 cash reward, he added.
If you have any information or might have seen a vehicle at the pull out at the top of the bluffs early on the morning of June 22, call 250-421-7722 or the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.
“Both Moyie and Cranbrook are small towns and if everyone shares this it wont take long to identify who did this and hopefully they can be stopped before they steal something or burn something else down or worse. Your help is appreciated,” Scriver said.
