Nine impaired charges Sam Steele weekend
Over the Sam Steele Days weekend in Cranbrook nine impaired drivers were take off the road, Cranbrook RCMP report.
The sanctions ranged from a 12-hour suspension up to 90 day driving suspensions, which includes a 30 day vehicle impound. Three drivers received the 90 days, prior to the Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) these persons would be facing criminal charges.
In addition to impaired driving offences officers wrote 38 warnings and violation tickets. Some of the offences were: no seat belt, using an electronic device and speeding.
Police commented that the Festival Gardens were well run. The organizers along with security did a great job and are to be commended. This allowed people to have a good time and enjoy the festivities.
