Nomination period for local general election now open
The nomination period for the 2022 General Local Election is now open.
Council candidates can submit their nomination to the Chief Election Officer at their local city hall, Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) office or school district office between today (Tuesday, August 30) and Friday, September 9.
Nomination packages are available for pick up at your local city/district hall, RDEK office or school district office.
It is recommended that candidates book a meeting with their local chief election officer to review their nomination package.
The next important phase after nominations is the campaign period, which begins 28 days before general voting day.
In this case, the campaign period runs from Saturday, Sept. 17 to Saturday, October 15 (election day).
