Notes from City Hall
Community groups or not-for-profit organizations interested in requesting a Permissive Property Tax Exemption for the 2018 calendar year are invited to submit a completed application along with supporting documentation to Kimberley City Hall by August 15. Exemptions will generally only be considered if the applicant organization uses the land and/or improvements to benefit the community in one or more of the following ways:
- Provides recreational programs and/or facilities for public use;
- Provides programs and/or the use of facilities to youth, seniors or other special needs groups;
- Offers cultural or educational programs to the public; or
- Offers services to the public in formal partnership with the municipality.

Fire Ban
Until further notice, a FIRE BAN has been issued for the City of Kimberley. All fire permits including BBQ pits are suspended. These prohibitions do not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating that uses briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, so long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimetres. The use of a campfire apparatus that does not meet these specifications is prohibited.

Emergency Grab and Go Kit
Build an emergency kit to grab and go in case of an evacuation or emergency. This easily accessible kit should contain: 2 litres of water per person per day, unperishable foods, can opener, flashlight and batteries, seasonal clothing, blankets, cell phone charger, pen and notepad, personal toiletries, maps, candles matches or a lighter, battery powered or wind-up radio, first aid kit, prescription medications, infant formula if needed, extra keys, cash in small bills, and a list of contact information.

Watering Reminder
Watering must be done between the hours of 4 to 10 a.m. AND 6 to 10 p.m. Residents of properties with odd-numbered addresses should water only on odd-numbered days. Residents of properties with even-numbered addresses should water only on even-numbered days. Please view our Water Shortage Response Bylaw for more information.
Red Cross Babysitting Course
The Aquatic Centre is offering the course on Thursday, August 17 and Friday, August 18 from 3 to 8 p.m. The cost is $82.35 and candidates must attend all dates and times of the courses.
