Numa Creek wildfire holding at 450 ha

Parks Canada’s Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit reports the Numa Creek wildfire in Kootenay National Park continues to show minimal fire activity and smoke due to rain and cooler temperatures in recent days.

The fire remains at approximately 450 hectares in size. As forecasted weather returns to warmer, sunny conditions over the weekend, more smoke may be visible from the Numa Creek wildfire by early next week.

Fire management personnel are monitoring the risk to public safety and will implement any further trail closures as required.
