Police dog tracks and locates truck thieves
On July 21, the RCMP Police Service Dog tracked and located two truck thieves after they rolled a stolen truck on Kootenay Street North in Cranbrook.
At 1:30 a.m. on July 21 a witness observed a single vehicle roll over on Kootenay Street North, males were seen leaving on foot. Upon police attendance they learned the vehicle had been stolen from a Cranbrook residence on July 8.
Members immediately set up containment of the area and a police dog went to work. The dog (pictured above) tracked the subjects up and through the Cranbrook Golf Course and onto Edgewood Drive. Two subjects were located hiding in a shed. They were arrested and taken into custody.
Both are young offenders and were held for court. They were released into the custody of their parents with a number of strict conditions.
Both have been charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000.
