Police investigate targeted shooting

Cranbrook RCMP is investigating a shooting that targeted a residence Sunday night.

On March 8, at 9:22 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on the 300-block of 3rd Avenue South.

Investigators have confirmed evidence consistent with gunshots and have secured the scene for further examination. No one was injured in the shooting.

“While the investigation is in its infancy, early indications are that the shooting was targeted,” said S/Sgt. Barry Graham, Cranbrook RCMP Detachment commander.

“We have not ruled out any particular motive at this time and will work to determine if there is any connection with other recent acts of violence in our community.”

There is nothing to suggest a nexus to similar extortion crimes.

Anyone with any information, including CCTV or dash-camera video, who has yet to speak with police is urged to contact Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.
