Police investigate two stolen vehicle cases
Kimberley RCMP is reporting two incidents involving stolen vehicles yesterday, July 21.
The first occurred when police responded to a damaged vehicle on the NorthStar Rails to Trails. Upon attendance police found a vehicle had traveled down the trail between Marysville and Wycliffe. The truck had hit a large rock and become inoperable. Police checked with the owner and he was unaware it was missing.
The forensic identification section will be conducting an examination on Monday in an attempt to gain evidence as to who may have taken it.
The truck, which was stolen from the owner’s residence in Wycliffe is a 2007 black Mazda – B.C. license HB7109.
Later in the morning, police received a report of a vehicle, which was stolen from a residence on Rotary Drive in Kimberley.
Police are looking for a 1994 green Ford Eddie Bauer Edition pickup truck BC license EF2134. The truck has a green canopy with a Harley Davidson sticker on the right rear passenger window, “Born to Ride.”
If you have information about either of these vehicles please contact the Kimberley RCMP at 250 427-4811.
The end result of the first incident was photographed with images published on the NorthStar Rails to Trails Facebook page, with a notation: “We had an incident on the trail near the 10-km on Saturday night. Someone decided that they would drive a vehicle on the NorthStar presumably to avoid the RCMP patrols that were looking for JulyFest particpants who were DUI. They went out of control, hit a rock and blew a tire; they then abandoned the vehicle. If you have any information concerning the driver of this vehicle (could have been stolen) that night please contact the RCMP Kimberley Detachment.”
