Radium woman killed in MVA

A two-car motor vehicle accident this morning (Dec. 12) north of Invermere has claimed the life of a 63-year-old Radium Hot Springs woman.

Columbia Valley RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 93/95, three km north of the Invermere crossroads, at 9:06 a.m.

Police report that a southbound Dodge Dakota lost control, crossed the centre line and was struck by a northbound Chevy Silverado.

The driver of the Dodge Dakota was a 63-yearr-old female from Radium Hot Springs. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Silverado were a 27-year-old female and her three-year-old son. They were both taken to Invermere and District Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

The collision is still under investigation, but it appears that speeding relative to the road conditions is a factor.
