RCMP / Speedwatch Charity Golf Tournament raises over $5,000
Kimberley RCMP Report
The Kimberley RCMP Speedwatch Charity Golf Tournament held at the Kimberley Golf Course on Saturday Sept 15 was a huge success. Over 100 participants had a great day under sunny blue skies and raised over $5,000.
Monies raised will go to assist minor sports in Kimberley and the Kimberley Ambulance Memorial Education Fund.
Throughout the afternoon a number a golfers received violation tickets for offences observed on the course by Cst Lindsay Dorian of traffic services. The “fines” went towards a great cause.
The 21st annual tournament involved volunteers from the Kimberley speed watch, RCMP officers and support staff. We would like to thank merchants and businesses that generously supported the cause.
Cops for Kids and Tamarack Mall Fashion Show
On Wednesday, Sept 13, the Tamarack Mall in conjunction with a number of groups including the Cops for Kids held a fashion show. The show featured RCMP officers, Kootenay Ice players and College of the Rockies Avalanche Volleyball team. The sold out event featured clothes from various merchants in the mall. All the funds raised went to the Cops for Kids foundation, which assists children in need. A total of $8,700 dollars was raised from the fun filled event.
Found camera owners
A camera was turned into the Kimberley RCMP detachment awhile back. The officer took it upon himself to find the owners, as it appeared the camera contained a number of holiday photos from around BC. While looking through the photos he managed to locate a license plate, he checked that number and found it belonged to a rental agency. He contacted the rental agency and they were able to track down the party that had used that vehicle. They were from Germany. Contact was made and it turns out they lost their camera in Kimberley. They were so happy to have their photo memories back.
