SD5 Board Notes
The following is a summary of the School District No. 5 (SD5) School Board Meeting on June 12, held in Cranbrook.
Advocacy Letters
THAT the report, based on the BC Education Plan Stakeholder Forum of May 28th, be accepted and that it be sent to government following the June 15th deadline for stakeholder submissions. (Submissions to be included as addendum.)
General
THAT the Board endorse the City of Cranbrook’s Cranbrook Connected report.
THAT the Board provide a donation to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of up to $4,300, to be used for students within SD5.
THAT the Board approve the third and final reading of the Annual Budget Bylaw.
THAT the Board reinstate the position of Student Services Coordinator in Elk Valley/South Country.
THAT the Board renew Sandy Zeznick’s SD5 appointment to the Key City Theatre Society.
THAT the Board refer field trip application to Greece for Mount Baker Secondary School and Laurie and Parkland Middle Schools to the September 24, 2012 Policy Committee.
THAT the Board receive the Community Plan for a Public System of Integrated Early Care and Learning (“The Solution”) and refer the plan to the September 24, 2012 Advocacy Committee to discuss endorsement.
THAT the Board accept “with regret” the retirement notice of Superintendent Bill Gook.
