SD5 Report

Prior to School District no. 5 (SD5) board meetings May 8, the school board of trustees toured the new Elkford Community Centre development and Elkford Secondary School. The board also attended a Spring Tea(student music & poetry performances and refreshments sponsored by PAC) hosted for parents by Rocky Mountain Elementary School.

Advocacy Letters

THAT the BC Education Plan Stakeholder Forum be scheduled for a full morning at the Advocacy Committee Meeting on May 28. The agenda will be formed in conjunction with all stakeholders input and distributed prior to May 28. Committee meetings, including Advocacy, are public meetings; everyone is welcome to attend.

General

THAT the Board approve the Capital Project Bylaw – Project No. 126376 AFG [Annual Facilities Grant). The first two readings were completed at the April 10 board meeting.

THAT the board approve the first two readings of the Annual Budget Bylaw.

THAT the Board approve the draft calendar as amended by changing the April 12, 2013 alternate calendar day to February 15, 2013; changing the May 10, 2013 alternate calendar day to May 17, 2013; changing the Sept. 21, 2012 Professional Development day to a District Implementation Day; changing the November 9 School Not In Session day to a Professional Development day and including milestone dates on the calendar.

THAT the Board recieve the City of Cranbrook’s Cranbrook Connected report.

THAT the Board refer discussion re: Bill 22 and related BCSTA letters to Committee Day.
