Six years in jail for drive-by shootings

rcmplogoA 29-year-old man will spend up to the next six years in prison for his part in the April 4 and 5 drive-by shootings in Kimberley.

Following a drive-by shooting on Archibald Street in Kimberley around 11 p.m. on April 4, then another at 1 a.m. on April 5, RCMP rounded up two suspects by 1:45 a.m. and a recovered a shotgun. The quick response and cooperation by the Kimberley and Cranbrook RCMP, in combination with the public, resulted in the two suspects being located and taken into custody within three hours, notes a RCMP press release.

One of the accused, 27-year old Randy Boehner appeared in Cranbrook Provincial Court April 8 and pleaded guilty to Breach of Probation and was sentenced to 70 days in custody. The second accused, 29-year-old Dustin Plourde, appeared in court April 15, where he pleaded guilty to Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition; and Possession Contrary to a Probation Order.

Plourde was sentenced to six years in custody.
