Slaterville Community Plan approved

City of Cranbrook council Feb. 20 unanimously approved the Slaterville Neighbourhood Community Plan (Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 3739).

With the approval, the Slaterville document becomes a secondary plan within the city’s Official Community Plan (OCP).

“The amendment is intended to ensure the goals, policies and recommendations in the neighbourhood plan provide long term relevance and become formal city policy,” states the city’s report, issued prior to last night’s public hearing.

“The Slaterville Neighbourhood Plan encompasses approximately 65 ha of land west of the CPR tracks between 6th Street NW, the city boundary and the area surrounding Pinewood Elementary School,” the report explained.

No one made a presentation or submitted a letter to the city regarding the plan during the public hearing, which preceded council’s vote.
