Snowfall Advisory issued
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall advisory for the East Kootenay, with 10 to 15 cm expected.
Snow at times heavy is expected to develop over the southern sections of East Kootenay this evening as a low-pressure system moves over Washington state. The heavy snow is expected to taper off Wednesday morning as the low moves to the east.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” Environment Canada warns.
Mainroad East Kootenay reports it is aware of the advisory and will be actively patrolling, clearing, and salting/sanding on a priority basis as required on all highways and ministry roadways until the event passes.
If you note any road issues, please report them to Mainroad’s 24-hour Communication Centre at 1-800-665-4929.
