Stetski outlasts Wavrecan to seize Cranbrook mayoralty
Wayne Stetski is the latest Mayor of the City of Cranbrook.
Stetski (2,185) earned 481 more votes than Coun. Jim Wavrecan (1,704) to take the Nov. 19 mayoral race.
Pat O’Connell captured 863 votes and John York 107.
The city is also going to have two new council members and four returning councilors.

Coun. Denise Pallesen received the most votes for councilors with 2,696, while Angus Davis secured a fourth term with the second most votes, at 2,485. Coun. Bob Whetham returns for second term, earning 2,217 votes and Diana J. Scott also returns for a second term with 2,002 votes.

Journalist Gerry Warner stormed to council on the strength of 1,977 votes and Sharon Cross secured the final seat with 1,935 votes.

Connor Stewart was the next closest candidate with 1,810 votes. The remaining candidates finished:
Dave Hall – 1,655; David Humphrey – 1,533; Sean Campbell – 1,488; Jim Fennell – 1,264; Jay Savage – 1,076; Tasy Strouzas – 875; Paulette Johnson – 755.
Stetski finished second to Scott Manjak in the 2008 election.
