Teenage girl injured in pedestrian MVI
On September 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Cranbrook RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian motor vehicle incident (MVI). A 14-year-old female exchange student had been hit after losing her balance and falling into the roadway.
The female had been jaywalking across Cranbrook Street North, 100 metres north of the Victoria Avenue N. intersection. She had crossed the northbound lane and was standing on the small island between the north and southbound traffic when she lost her balance and fell into traffic.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle was unable to change lanes due to traffic, braked hard but still hit the girl.
