On 2 January, at 12:55 p.m., a report was received by the Cranbrook RCMP about the theft of 13 chainsaws from a storage area at Purcell Resources, in the 300 block of Industrial Rd G. An employee had just noticed the theft that morning when he checked the storage area and noticed all the chainsaws were missing.

Of the thirteen Husqavarna chainsaws that were stolen, nine had not been used previously. A bolt cutter was used to break the security chain. Total cost of stolen saws that were taken is approximately $11,900.
