They only work when you’re wearing them
May 17 was National Life Jacket Day and Kootenay-Columbia MP David Wilks joined the Canadian Red Cross in reminding people that the lifejacket works only if you are wearing it. “This date was selected as this weekend starts the boating season in most places in Canada,” noted Radium Hot Springs resident Clara Reinhardt, a program representative with the Canadian Red Cross.
