FogCRIA1On the bright side, it’s sunny above the thick fog that has enveloped the City of Cranbrook and area since Tuesday, Oct. 22.

That is little consolation to the many travelers who have been trying to get out, or into Canadian Rockies International Airport (CRIA) since Tuesday, Oct. 22. Most flights have been canceled due to fog and delays continue at the facility located northeast of Cranbrook.

FogCria2Rent-a-car business has been brisk at the airport, with the National counter double-staffed to deal with the demand, and available vehicles becoming a problem.

Environment Canada reports the fog will be hanging around until at least Saturday, and Sunday’s forecast includes a 60% chance of showers.

FogCRIA6The autumn sunshine Cranbrook is being denied by fog will return Monday, Oct. 28.
