Three seriously injured in Skookumchuck crash
Three persons are in serious condition after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 93/95 near Skookumchuck on June 9.
A Kimberley RCMP officer traveling through the area came across the crash and requested BC Ambulance.
Initially all three occupants were trapped in the vehicles. Once removed they were transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital; and then they were then transferred to Calgary.
A northbound vehicle with a lone female occupant crossed the centerline and collided head on with a south bound vehicle with two occupants.
A collision analyst attended the scene and conducted an examination. Police believe alcohol is a factor and are currently gathering further evidence.
The highway was blocked for approximately two hours but there was an old road nearby which allowed some vehicles to proceed via detour.
