Three taken to EKRH following crash north of Skookumchuk

Police were called to a single vehicle collision just before 7 a.m., Dec 7. The crash took place on Highway 93/95 approximately eight km north of the Premier Lake turnoff. Three people were taken to East Kootenay Regional Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The RCMP report the road was “very slippery at the time, but speed is a factor.” The driver attempted to pass a loaded logging truck and lost control. The vehicle went off road left and down a steep embankment. Sanding was in progress at the time.

Police, ambulance and Fire Rescue from Canal Flats attended. Two people were pinned in the vehicle and the Jaws of Life were used to free them.

Charges are being considered.

Police would like to remind motorists to drive for the conditions. Please do not take unnecessary risks.  Your family will appreciate you getting home safely.
