Wasa man killed in single vehicle crash

A 52-year-old Wasa man was killed in an early morning crash Jan. 6 near the Wasa rest area.

Cranbrook/Kimberley RCMP Detachment and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to a single vehicle fatal crash at 1:23 a.m.on Highway 93/95 near the Wasa rest area.

A 1986 Ford pickup truck was northbound and went off the road to the left. The truck entered the ditch and rolled over once. The single occupant and driver appeared to have died instantly. No seat belt was being worn at the time. The road conditions were good, with light snow beginning to fall. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
