Youth Engagement Strategy launches
The Kimberley Youth Engagement Strategy (YES!) is a project that is about improving the community experience for Kimberley’s teens and young adults. Thanks to funding from the Columbia Basin Trust, this yearlong project will provide a valuable opportunity to identify needs and build stronger relationships between youth and the community.
The project will invite reflection by both youth and the community-at-large on questions like: how can Kimberley optimize its youth-focused assets and resources? What services is our community missing? What steps can be taken to ensure our community’s teens and young adults are proud to call Kimberley home?
Throughout the next year the project will be gathering baseline data, surveying youth and meeting with youth leaders and youth-serving organizations to understand how we can make Kimberley a more vibrant place for young people. The end goal is to identify strategic actions and priorities that will benefit teens and young adults in Kimberley and strengthen the community as whole.
To kick things off YES! is hosting a project launch event on May 1. This will be an opportunity for youth-serving organizations and youth-interested stakeholders to learn about the project, how they can get involved, and to provide valuable input on the project’s design and work plan.
If you are an interested teen or young adult between the ages of 12-29 or represent a local youth-serving organization and would like to receive an invitation to the launch event, please contact [email protected].
If you are unable to attend the launch event and are interested in being part of the steering committee, or otherwise involved in the project, contact [email protected]. For more information about the project please visit www.yeskimberley.com.
