Anonymous group seeks to save/buy ICE

An anonymous group of Cranbrook area business people have banded together in an effort to keep the Kootenay ICE in the city and region.

A website called Save Our ICE – Keep the Kootenay ICE in Cranbrook is a tool the group is using to gauge community interest in their efforts to keep the ICE in Cranbrook.

“We are a group of local business owners and dedicated fans who are banding together to do everything we can to try to keep the Kootenay ICE in Cranbrook. We have chosen to remain anonymous at this time to keep the attention and focus on the team and what it brings to the region. But we are like you … passionate fans of the ICE. And we don’t want to see them go,” the website outlines.

The would-be owners say they would be committed to Cranbrook and would lower prices to games.

“This is home, and where the team belongs. We want to be here to support the players, the fans and the minor hockey community in the area. Reduced prices; more options; more promotions. We know you have a choice for your entertainment dollars and will do everything we can to deliver value.”

An improved fan experience would stem from local owners and a new attitude, they note on their website.

“From ticket purchasing, to concessions, to in-seat we want to deliver a world-class experience along with an improving on-ice product. We want to build on the legacy that is the ICE, but with a vision for the next 20 years in Cranbrook.”

The website includes four calls to action/ways to support this cause: state a willingness to purchase season tickets; sign up as a volunteer; sponsor interest; provide input.

Also, at the bottom of the website is an opportunity to be added to an update list.
