Baynes Lake woman killed in crash
A noon hour crash on Highway 3/93 yesterday claimed the life of a Baynes Lakes woman.
On March 10, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 3/93 near Wardner.
The collision occurred when a 2016 blue Honda Pilot and a 2012 grey Dodge Caravan collided head-on. The 36-year-old female driver of the Honda Pilot sustained serious injuries and was transported to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The collision resulted in the death of a 44-year-old female from the Baynes Lake area, who was driving the Dodge Caravan, reported Cst. Shmyr of the RCMP’S East Kootenay Traffic Services.
The highway was closed for approximately five hours as police and a collision Reconstructionist investigated the collision. Anyone who may have witnessed the actual collision or observed either vehicle prior to the collision is asked to contact East Kootenay Traffic Services at 250-420-4244.
The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time. The collision is being investigated by East Kootenay Traffic Services and the BC Coroner’s Service.
Police would like to remind everyone that winter driving conditions continue throughout the East Kootenay.
