Trans Canada open again after avalanche control
Highway 1 (Trans Canada) is currently closed 2.4 km east of Golden to 17.2 km east of Golden because of a high avalanche hazard.
A detour is available but not recommended, DriveBC reports. The approximate three hour detour is taking Highway 95 south to Radium Hot Springs and then back north through Kootenay National Park on Highway 93.
DriveBC reports winter driving conditions on all roads.
Avalanche control is underway.
