The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is currently responding to the Island Pond wildfire (N21295), located approximately 16.5 kilometres south of the Village of Canal Flats.

This fire is currently estimated to be two hectares, however it is burning at rank 5, meaning it is an extremely vigorous surface fire or active crown fire with a fast rate of spread.

Crews and air support are en route.

This fire is burning adjacent to Highway 93/95, although vehicle travel is not currently impacted.
