Canal Flats Pavilion and Public Washroom opened

The Canal Flats Pavilion and Public Washroom project was a partnership between the Village of Canal Flats and the Canal Flats Community Society, with generous funding from the Columbia Basin Trust Community Outdoor Revitalization Capital Grant stream.

Other funders were: Regional District of East Kootenay, Area F, Grant in Aid; Columbia Roofing which contributed the roofing of the public washroom at no cost; and Canfor Radium which donated lumber for the pavilion roof.

The pavilion has been well used by families and groups in the community for gatherings like family reunions all summer. The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy and Family Dynamix have also been regular users for their events in Canal Flats.

Pictured in front row from left is Village of Canal Flats Parks Manager Mathieu Fournier; Adrian Bergles, CAO Village of Canal Flats; Karl Sterzer, Mayor of Canal Flats; Susan Clovechok, RDEK Area F Director; and Dave Lario, Parks Labourer Village of Canal Flats. Dave is in the orange shirt – cut off unfortunately.
