Fairmont Hot Springs Resort this afternoon announced it is closing its ski hill tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 12 due to extreme cold, as well as Saturday morning.

The Fairmont Community Association passed along a message from the resort on social media: “Due to the extreme cold weather starting tonight, the decision has been made to close the ski hill all day Friday, January 12 and the morning of Saturday, January 13. Temperatures exceeding -34 is beyond the threshold of our operations.

“The hill will be in full operation Saturday afternoon, starting at 12:30 p.m., which is the start of half day lift ticket sales. The local kid’s programs Snowbirds, Whiskey Jacks and Fairmont Racers have also been cancelled.”
