Columbia Valley RCMP Report

By Sgt. Darren Kakuno

This past week, September 10 through 16, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 53 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.

No injuries in two-vehicle Windermere crash

On September 10, shortly before noon, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Windermere Loop Road and Highway 93/95 in Windermere. A Honda Accord was struck by a Chevy pickup after the Honda pulled onto the highway. Neither driver was injured but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Friend takes vehicle without consent

On September 13, just after midnight, an individual called to report he had an altercation with his friend, after which his friend took his vehicle without his consent. Police located and arrested the suspect the following day. He was released on a Promise to Appear in court with conditions.

Windermere B&E

On September 15 police received a report of a break and enter to a residence in the 1800 block of Benninger Road in Windermere, which occurred sometime between September 11 and 13. A microwave, kettle, camera and food were stolen. Police seized items for fingerprinting and continue to investigate.

Argument leads to breach of conditions charge

On September 16, at 3:40 a.m., police responded to a disturbance in the 8300 block of Highway 93/95 near Radium Hot Springs. Upon arrival officers learned a man and woman had a verbal argument and, although there was no assault, the woman was found to be breaching her conditions by consuming alcohol and being in contact with the male. The woman was arrested for breaching her conditions and released on a Promise to Appear in court.

Your generosity is very much appreciated

On Saturday (Sept. 15) I attended the Cram the Cruiser event at the Radium Hot Springs Car Show to collect food and cash for our local food bank. I want to thank everyone who dropped by to say hi and make a donation. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
