Columbia Valley RCMP Report

By Sgt. Darren Kakuno

This past week, February 11 through February 17, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 49 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.

Minor injuries in rollover north of Radium

On February 11, police responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 95 just north of Radium Hot Springs. The driver of a Toyota Yaris lost control of her vehicle and rolled down an embankment. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was transported to the Invermere & District Hospital by BC Ambulance paramedics with minor injuries.

Woman arrested for assault

On February 14, at 7:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Subdivision Road in Windermere. Police spoke to a male and female on scene and learned a verbal argument had escalated into a physical altercation. An adult female was arrested for assault and released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.

Driver uninjured in Highway 93/95 crash

On February 16, at 8:30 a.m., an officer was conducting patrols on Highway 93/95 near Invermere when she came upon a single vehicle incident. The driver of a silver Ford F150 lost control of her vehicle in a corner and went down an embankment. The driver was uninjured.

Intoxicated man arrested for mischief

On February 17, shortly after midnight, police were called to a disturbance at a rental suite on Foresters Landing Road in Radium Hot Springs. When police arrived they were told an intoxicated male, who was part of a larger group that rented the property, was causing problems and damaging property so they locked him out of the room. Police located the male in the vicinity and arrested him for mischief. The man was released from cells the following morning.
