Columbia Valley RCMP Report
This past week, March 11 through March 17, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 48 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.
Stopped school bus passed near Windermere
On March 13, at about 8:30 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a black Ford Expedition passing a school bus on Highway 93/95 in Windermere while the bus had its flashing lights and stop sign activated. An officer with East Kootenay Traffic Services RCMP stopped the vehicle near Wardner and issued a warning to the driver. When a school bus has its flashing lights and stop sign activated traffic in both directions must come to a complete stop and wait until the school bus deactivates its equipment.
Boy believed missing found at neighbour’s house
On March 16, at 1:20 p.m., an eight-year-old boy was reported missing from his residence in Radium Hot Springs. Police officers and a dog handler responded and learned the boy had been located safe at a neighbour’s house.
Screamer taken to hospital and then cells
On March 16, at 3:30 p.m., police received a report of a man yelling and screaming on Wolf Crescent in Invermere. Police located the male and transported him to the Invermere & District Hospital to be assessed. Once cleared he was held in cells until he was sober.
