Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, February 24 through March 1, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 46 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files to which our officers responded.

Brazen thief steal gasoline

On Monday, February 24 at about 4:45 p.m. a resident on Columbia Lake Road reported an older blue Ford pickup pulled up in front of his residence and a male passenger of the truck proceeded to walk onto his property and take several jerry cans with fuel.

Golden resident arrested for possession of stolen property

On Tuesday, February 25 at about 3:00 am a Columbia Valley RCMP officer was conducting patrols for a suspicious blue Ford pickup that had been involved in a theft of fuel during the previous day. The officer located the blue truck parked on Stanley Street in Radium Hot Springs and confirmed the truck had been stolen out of Golden. When the officer approached the truck he discovered it was occupied by an adult male. The male was arrested for possession of stolen property. A 48-year-old male from Golden was released on strict conditions to appear in court at a later date.

Rollover sends one to hospital for assessment

On Wednesday, February 26 at 11:15 p.m., emergency services responded to a single vehicle rollover north of Juniper Heights on Highway 93/95. The driver of a GMC pickup had lost control of his vehicle and rolled into the ditch. The lone male driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance to be assessed.

Snowmobile stolen in Windermere

On Saturday, February 29, Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a theft of a snowmobile. A black and yellow 2015 Skidoo Summit 800 was stolen off the back of a truck that was parked on Skookum Frontage Road in Windermere sometime overnight.

No injuries in crash in Kootenay National Park

On Saturday, February 29, at about 3:30 p.m., police received a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle incident on Highway 93 near Floe Lake in Kootenay National Park. The driver of a westbound Ford F150 lost control of the truck and went into the ditch. The occupants were reportedly uninjured and received a ride to Banff prior to police arriving.

Woman arrested for taking vehicle without consent

On Saturday, February 29 at 4 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a female taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The female was located at a residence in Black Forest Trails in Invermere and arrested for outstanding warrants. The female was held in custody in order to be brought before a Judge.

Revelstoke resident arrested for possession of a controlled substance

On Sunday, March 1, shortly after midnight, officers were conducting patrols on Highway 93/95 near Invermere when they stopped to speak to the driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe that was parked on the side of the highway. During their interactions with the driver the officers established grounds to believe the driver was in possession of a controlled substance. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and a search incidental to arrest resulted in the discovery of several packages of substances suspected to be illicit drugs along with other items consistent with drug trafficking. A 34-year-old male from Revelstoke was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.
