Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, August 15 through August 21, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 82 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to.

Bike that fell off vehicle turned into detachment

On Monday, August 15, a Norco Storm mountain bike was turned into the Columbia Valley RCMP. A motorist saw the bike fall off a vehicle on Highway 93/95 near Invermere but was unable to gain the driver’s attention. The owner of the bike can contact the Columbia Valley RCMP to claim it.

No injuries in crash near Edgewater

On Tuesday, August 16 at about 2:50 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 95 near Edgewater. The driver of a Ford pickup drove off the roadway and into the ditch. No serious injuries were reported but the vehicle had to be towed from the ditch.

Sunglasses, a set of keys and a cell phone turned into visitor centre

On Tuesday, August 16, a pair of sunglasses, a set of keys and a cell phone were turned into the Radium Visitor Centre. The owner can contact the Columbia Valley RCMP to claim them.

Four Alberta residents arrested in Banff after truck stolen from Edgewater

On Wednesday, August 17, a white Ford F250 was reported stolen from a residence on Purcell Avenue in Edgewater. Later the same day the truck was recovered in Banff and four adults from Alberta were arrested for possession of stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.

Check stop held in Invermere

On Thursday, August 18, Columbia Valley RCMP officers conducted a check stop on Panorama Drive near Westside Road in Invermere. Approximately 15 vehicles were checked and one driving prohibition notice was served on a driver.

No injuries in collision at Fairmont

On Saturday, August 20 at about 11:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fairmont Resort Road and Fairmont Frontage Road in Fairmont Hot Springs. A Toyota Sienna was travelling west on Fairmont Resort Road when it was struck by a southbound Ford Edge. The driver of the Ford Edge was investigated for failing to stop at a stop sign. No injuries were reported.
