Columbia Valley RCMP Report
This past week, November 7 through November 13, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 53 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the file our officers responded to.
Driver uninjured in semi rollover in national park
On Tuesday, November 8, Columbia Valley RCMP was dispatched to a motor vehicle incident approximately 50 km into Kootenay National Park where a semi-tractor and trailer had rolled over, crushing the cab on the semi. The driver was not located inside the cab and it was later determined that he received a ride into town from a passerby. The driver was uninjured.
Vehicle impounded after driver stopped travelling 168 km/h in a 70 km/h zone
On Wednesday, November 9, BC Highway patrol was conducting traffic enforcement in Kootenay National Park when they clocked a vehicle travelling at 168 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the driver was issued an appearance notice for a court date to deal with this matter.
Mailboxes broken into in Windermere
On Thursday November 10, Columbia Valley RCMP was made aware of a set mailboxes that had been broken into on Swansea Road, as well as on the Skookum Frontage Road. The large parcel boxes had been pried open and it appears one parcel had been stolen.
Observant officers capture male wanted on several outstanding warrants
On Saturday November 12, Columbia Valley RCMP attended a residence looking to locate the registered owner of a vehicle suspected in a theft of a propane tank. While at the property, the members on scene observed a male who was wanted on several outstanding warrants. The male was arrested and is currently remanded on all six of his outstanding warrants and is currently facing new charges; one for being in the possession of brass knuckles.
