Columbia Valley RCMP Report

By Cpl. Jeff Witzke

This past week, June 19 to June 25, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 51 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to.

Mischief incident in Radium under investigation

On Monday, June 19, Columbia Valley RCMP received a mischief report in Radium Hot Springs where a resident’s lawn had been damaged overnight by a vehicle. This is the second time in the past week where someone had purposely drove onto and ripped up the lawn. It is possible a silver coloured pickup truck may be related this incident and the police are asking anyone with information regarding this matter to please contact the local RCMP detachment

Person victimized by fraud

On June 21, Columbia Valley RCMP was contacted by a person who had fallen victim to a fraud in excess of $5,000. The victim believed he was investing in a company called SeaStock24; however, when they went to pull out their funds the company stopped communicating with them. From what the RCMP can tell SeaStock24 is not a legit company and should not be trusted.

Happy Canada Day and make good choices

The RCMP is wishing everyone a Happy Canada Day Long weekend and want to remind everyone to be safe this summer. Be it on the lakes or rivers, taking in a hike or bike ride on the trails, utilizing the many FSRs and especially on the highways, please be respectful, kind and patient with one another.

Make good choices. Let’s all work together to make this summer enjoyable for all residents and guests of the Columbia Valley.
