Community Foundation supports EKISC
We’re thrilled to share that, for the first time, East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKISC) has received $5,000 in Community Grant funding from the Columbia Valley Community Foundation to support our education and outreach efforts in the Columbia Valley!
Thanks to this generous support, we’ll be attending local farmers markets, hosting community weed pulls, offering invasive species-themed storytimes at libraries, and (fingers crossed!) installing some much-needed boot brush stations on popular trails to help protect the incredible landscapes of the Columbia Valley.
This valley is such a special place, and we’re so stoked to have additional support to enhance invasive species messaging and stewardship in that neck of the woods.
From Canal Flats to Spillimacheen, the Columbia Valley Community Foundation does amazing work by providing sustainable funding to local causes, supporting nonprofits, and helping build stronger, healthier communities. In 2023 alone, they gave over $330,000 to 27 organizations – and we’re honoured to be part of that impact this year!
