CVSAR rescues injured hiker in Bugaboos

Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) was called out July 21 for an injured hiker in the Bugaboos, west of Brisco.

The hiker had fallen near the metal ladder on the approach to the Conrad Kain Hut and sustained injuries.

CVSAR responded with a ground team and requested mutual aid from CMH Bugaboos and Golden Search and Rescue for a long-line helicopter rescue.

The patient was located and transported to higher medical care with the assistance of Alpine Helicopters.

CVSAR advised on social media: “Hiking in Bugaboo Provincial Park can be hazardous at any time, but especially after rain. Slippery footing, shifting rocks, and falling rocks are common risks—particularly in glacial moraine areas, which are often unstable both underfoot and overhead. Please take extra care when recreating in this terrain.”
