CVSAR saves distressed paddle boarder on Columbia
Yesterday evening (June 29) Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) was tasked with going to the aid of a paddle boarder in distress on the Columbia River.
CVSAR mobilized a team of swift water members who flew to the location in response.
Support team members also responded on the ground with additional resources. With the aid of RCMP, the subject was located, extracted and handed over to BC Ambulance Service for further care, CVSAR reported on social media today.
“Keep in mind that with this recent heat wave the water levels in our rivers and lakes are high. Even popular float/paddle locations can present real hazards so plan ahead and go prepared,” CVSAR recommends.
